Crazy Delicious, Crave-Worthy Taco Dip

Everyone thinks they know who makes the best taco dip…

but they don’t.

I know who does — my friend, Jodi.

Like, for real.

The. Best. Taco dip. Ever.

It’s SOO good. And it’s not that dissimilar from so many others, but there are a couple of key areas where this recipe hits the nail on the head, where others falter.

What are they?

  1. It has both cream cheese and sour cream.

Including both makes for a softer texture that won’t break your chips. Some taco dips just use cream cheese, making the base firm, and destroying its scoopability.

2. There’s not just taco seasoning, but taco sauce, as well.

Taco sauce adds another dimension to the dip where others fall short. I had never heard of taco sauce before I made this. It’s a red sauce that comes in a bottle and is sold right by the taco seasoning. It’s not salsa. You could use salsa in a pinch, but it’s not the same. Salsa doesn’t have the taco-y flavor.

3. It doesn’t use lettuce.

I feel like this should be a general rule. Wilted lettuce isn’t tasty. Please don’t put lettuce on your taco dip.

But like most taco dips, this is simple to make, so here’s the scoop:

Ingredients:

8 oz. cream cheese
8 oz.  sour cream
8 oz. taco sauce
1 pkg. taco seasoning
8-16 oz. shredded cheese (I like sharp cheddar)
Chopped veggies (onions, tomatoes, sweet peppers, jalapenos, black olives)

1) Combine sour cream, cream cheese, and taco seasoning until smooth. Spread on bottom of 10 x 13 pan.
2)  Top with taco sauce.
3)  Spread half the cheese.
4)
Top with veggies and remaining cheese.

And that’s all!

I know that you’ll love this taco dip, because I’ve never met anyone who doesn’t rave about it.

BTW….

If you really want to serve this in Jodi style, you’ll call it:

Authentic [insert occasion] Taco Dip.

Authentic Birthday Taco Dip

Authentic Graduation Party Taco Dip

Authentic Fourth of July Taco Dip

It’s even been Authentic March of Ides Taco Dip.

Silly, I know. But I love it.

What occasion will you be making it for? (And if it turns out to bea Authentic Sit-on-the-Couch-Saturday Taco Dip, that’s totally cool. I’ve been there and this is the perfect food companion.)

Enjoy!
