I love girl time (and definitely don’t get enough of it), but sometimes it can be difficult to come up with something to do beyond going out for dinner, shopping, or margaritas. An intimate girls night in is always appealing, but hosting can become overwhelming. If you want to host some friends, but aren’t sure what to do or make, here are 10 ideas to make your girl day a cinch.

A Girl Time Reminder
This past Labor Day, I catered for a lovely, small gathering of wild women in Hayward, WI. I was unsure of what to expect at the get-together. Yoga, campfires, and camaraderie were certain, but beyond that I wasn’t really sure. However, it was a big reminder of how amazing & supportive women really are.
One of the most important things to remember (and that I was reminded of at the retreat) is that women truly love collective efforts. You should never feel guilty asking for help or for asking for contributions. Chances are good that your friends want to be asked or they’ll bring something anyway.
My wild women weekend inspired me to seek out more girl time and gave me some great ideas for how to spend it. Do one or mix and match!
1. Vision boards
We all have hopes and dreams that keep us motivated or sane. Whether it’s traveling the world, starting your own business, becoming the boss, or staying home, it’s very energizing to put those ideas together in one place. Who better than to share those dreams with than a group of supportive women? Grab some paper, a stack of magazines, some glue, and start sharing!
2. Potluck/recipe swap
Food’s required for all gatherings and it’s nice if the host doesn’t have to do all the heavy lifting. Why not have everyone bring something to share? (And maybe a bottle of wine, too?)
Bring your favorite girl time dish to pass and bring the recipe, too! Here’s my favorite dish for potlucks:
3. Skill sharing
Is one of your besties a master canner? A rug braider? A whiz at making skincare products? If you’re interested, you probably have other friends that are interested, too. Ask if they’d be willing to teach a small group the basics and what they’d need to make it happen.
4. Cookie Baking
Who doesn’t love warm cookies? Maybe it’s the holidays and you hope to bake a dozen different kinds or you just want to have warm cookies for the offering. Either way, I’m sure someone would be willing to set a timer and quality control test the goods. Have everyone bring their favorite recipe!
5. Mani/pedi
Let’s face it — what says girl time more than wine and nails? With these fun nail strips by Color Street, you no longer need to rely on your friends’ freehand abilities for nail art.
6. Card reading
Whether you believe in mysticism or not, card readings are lots of fun and can be eerily accurate and insightful. Try tarot, animal, or angel card reading with these fun, affordable kits — no experience necessary!
7. Movies
A tried and true chick flick almost seems mandatory for girl time. Check out my top 10 favorites!
8. Fave under $5
What’s your favorite thing under $5? Eyeliner that achieves the perfect wing? A dollar store planner that keeps you on task? A bargain bottle of wine? Everyone loves to share their favorite deal. Have a fave under $5! Everyone brings along a couple extra of their favorite item to send home with others.
9. Clothes swap
We all need to clean out our closet! But why not check to see if your friends can use your old pieces before hitting the donation bin? Chances are good that you’ll find something, too!
10. Tie-dye
These kits make it cheap and easy to tie-dye to your heart’s content! Encourage guests to bring tees, onesies, tea towels, tapestries, or a cute summer dress!
