Holy moly! It’s October! I love this time of year. It’s a last chance to get outside without piling on clothes, it’s cool enough to go outside without sunscreen or fear of overheating (or being eaten alive), and there’s enough wet weather so that you can have a fire in the fire pit without fear of burning down the neighborhood. It’s also a great time of year, because of the beauty of the changing seasons and you don’t need to run climate control 24/7, lowering energy usage and bills.
And don’t forget about Halloween, roasted pumpkin seeds, and soup-making!
This year, I also learned that — in the world of blogging — October is also called Blogtober. Blogtober is a little blogger challenge meant to spark productivity in bloggers.
The goal? Write everyday.
Now wait a minute! Is this realistic [for a mama-to-be with a toddler, a full-time job, and a laundry list of other things to accomplish in the next six weeks]? Perhaps. Or at least I’m going to try.
First, I’m going to recap: Last month I launched my blog and participated in a different challenge to try to increase my blog’s traffic. It was a lot of work, but also a lot of fun! I learned SO much. Since the end of that challenge I’ve been trying to keep myself organized and motivated to tackle some of the smaller nuances of this blogging thing: social media, design, and of course, writing.
I’ve noticed that many bloggers keep to fall-themed topics in Blogtober. After all, who doesn’t love fall? But as I have a whole different set of things going on in my life right now (last minute prep for baby #2), you’ll likely be reading about this and toddlerhood.
This month, I have a small list of topics planned (as well as several posts that I need to wrap up), but among my other goals are to:
- Learn how to use our camera (we’ve only had it for three years!)
- Conquer a few design and technical issues
- Start emailing my subscribers! Sign up below!
With a little luck, I’ll be able to pull off this challenge, too. Later this month, I have a week off of work to hang out with my daughter while my in-laws (our child care) visit their other other grandkids. Fingers crossed that our little-big girl will nap every day that week. (Seriously, please cross your fingers for me.)
I hope you have a fun-filled month planned! I love October and can’t wait to see what it has in store for this funky crunchy mama. Next year, I’ll try to be a little more prepared with seasonally themed posts for you. Until then, I hope you enjoy what else I have to say.
Happy Blogtober!
